happy valentine's day! ♥ ♥

Happy Valentine's Day!

1 Corinthians 13:13
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is l♥ve.

The fiance and I are hoping for a romantic evening at home after I get done with my meeting.
We opted for the same menu we had a few years back: grilled rib eye steaks, baked potato, & tossed salad. We discussed not buying each other anything since we are on a tight budget with our wedding up ahead & me trying to graduate. Sadly enough, I still need to make him a card and a little something something. Just not sure what yet..? I have school from 1:30-4:30, then meeting at 7. Looks like I better get busy or Mr. C won't be getting any Valentine's.

 Lastly, I apologize for not finishing up my 14 day L.O.V.E. challenge with Summer! The beau and I both have to use this one computer. Since he is in grad school, his workload has hence increased and he is using the computer A LOT. Which leaves me trying to find time in between to post!

What did you buy/make for your significant other for V-Day?!

14 days of l♥ve: day 7 & 8

Day 7: Yesterday's challenge was...post a silly picture of someone you LOVE!! Something really funny that cracks you up!!

 {my sweet cousin, Arien. She decided to suck all the juice from a pickle slice to see if it would stick to her forehead? Crazy girl!}

{this one cracks me up every.single.time. it was years ago when Cliff first bought his house and was in the midst of remodeling his bedroom. I can't remember what we were doing that particular night, or why he decided to be Mr. Macho Man?, but I'm glad he did. Plenty of laughs for our future.}

 {underneath the dinner table during Christmas with family, this is Hannah my little flowergirl!}

Day 8: Post a pic of unconditional LOVE!! Love is all about unconditional so post a pic about it! It can be happy, sad, sweet, totally up to you!!

14 days of l♥ve: day 6

Little Miss Bella decided a few weeks ago that she was going to chew on every cord in her little paws reach. So, my laptop cord was the culprit on one occasion.
It lasted for a few weeks, and yesterday, decided to completely go out on us.
Thank goodness we had completed schoolwork during the rainy day on Saturday!

I just left Wally World and spent a whopping $69 bucks on a new charger.
Thanks Bell!

Day 6: Post a pic of your favorite Valentine Gift! You can 'splain or not it is totally up to you! You don't even have to post a pic if you don't have one, just describe it to us.
****

Since I'm not home on my computer, I can't upload a picture of the actual night. But a couple years ago, Cliff and I decided that for Valentine's day we weren't going to go "all out", but rather spend the evening at his house, cooking dinner, and watching a movie.

It was perfect.

Our menu consisted of grilled steaks, baked potatoes, and a fresh tossed salad.

{For the life of me, I can't remember the movie we watched. -I have a horrible memory}

To be honest, I wouldn't mind if every Valentine's day could be spent like that! We get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of school and every day life that we often times forget to actually sit down and enjoy each others company.

This Valentine's Day, I have a meeting at 7, that usually doesn't get over until 8:30ish or so. I'm hoping we can somehow arrange for dinner before and movie after?

Day 7 will be posted tonight.

14 days of l♥ve: day 5

Summer's challenge for today: Feb. 5 What is your favorite LOVE Song? It doesn't have to be about LOVE just something that reminds you of LOVE, someone, etc. post a pic of the band cover or link the video, a pic of you dancing, etc.

This isn't necessarily my favorite love song.
But it reminds me a lot about growing up!

I worked yesterday on making this here cute pom-pom necklace!
Tutorial coming soon!

 A few years back I was really into scrapbooking.
I bought a chipboard book from a local craft store and made this for a Valentine's gift for the beau.

Each page had a different verse from a "love song".

14 days of l♥ve: day 3

 Today's challenge: Post a pic of a movie you think reminds you of LOVE (Romantic, romantic comedy, action mr. & mrs. Smith) it doesn't even have to be LOVE related, if you watch it with someone you LOVE and it's your favorite movie because of it than post it! You can 'splain why it's your favorite movie or not it is totally up to you.

 Cliff introduced me to this movie when we first started dating years back. At first, I was like "what?? you want me to watch whattt?" But, after sitting down {and realizing Dolly Parton played a major role in it} I l♥ve it! We watch it all the time while singing and dancing along to all of the songs :)

The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas
starring Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds

{before watching make sure to scroll to the bottom of the page and put my music on pause!}

 I absolutely adore baby chicks. Better yet, baby anything.

They were dyed various colors for Easter!
I named them, Lily, Pansy, & Lilac.
Aren't they precious?
They make my ♥ smile :)

14 days of l♥ve

Today I am playing along with Summer for Summer's 14 Days of Love

Here are Summer's rules: the idea of my 14 Day of L.O.V.E. Challege is to post a picture that reminds you of love, a photo of your love, a photo of your kiddo dressed in cuteness for love month, someone you want to remember who you love, a quote of love, a picture of randoms that remind you of love, your valentine's decor, anything really and you can link up one day or all 14 days of my challenge.... Just include a different picture for each day you link up and you can 'splain about it or not it's totally up to you....just have it related to L.O.V.E...

I thought I would share them with you all too.
Just click to make the picture larger, right click and save picture as. Then print & frame!
Enjoy :)

Valentine's Day "Love is Sweet" sign

As I was working on this project over the weekend, I ran across these old wooden boards I had bought months ago from Hobby Lobby. I have been patiently awaiting the perfect project to come about, so while I had all of my supplies already scattered about I decided to give it a go.

Supplies:
  • paint brush {$1}
  • patterned scrapbook paper {$0.64- Michael's}
  • matte mod podge {$4- Hobby Lobby}
  • wooden sign {$5.99- 50% off= $3}
  • vinyl {glossy white}
  • vinyl cutting machine
 Here's what you do:

First off, choose one sheet of 12x12 scrapbook paper of choice.
Then flip over the paper and place the wooden board in the corner of your paper and trace the outline. Because the board is longer than 12 inches in width, you will have to trace it multiple times. So, move the top of the board down to the line you just traced and trace another line underneath the bottom. Your paper should be divided into three segments.
{Sorry I don't have a picture}

Cut along the two lines you traced. You will end up with three pieces of paper. Only use the top two pieces. The third {bottom piece} will be slightly shorter than needed.

Next, mod podge the base board like so.

Then apply your scrapbook sheets over top of the board and adjust to fit accordingly.
{FYI- if using patterned paper the strips may not match up!}

{pictured above is a "welcome" sign I did exactly like the "Love is Sweet"}
Let dry for 15-20 minutes or so.

Then apply another coat of mod podge on top of the scrapbook paper.

Let this dry for 30 minutes.
{I left it overnight to be certain}

In the meantime, you can cut out your vinyl letters! After you cut your saying with your machine, peel back the vinyl leaving only the words on the original backing. Then take your clear transfer tape and place over top of your phrase and rub smoothly. Peel the transfer tape from the original vinyl backing. Then place over top your board and smooth out all air bubbles.

Peel back the clear transfer tape slowly, making sure the vinyl letters adhere to the scrapbook board.

Apply another layer of mod podge over top of the vinyl lettering & allow to dry.

Here are the final products:

{this will go on our candy buffet table for the wedding}

This project is linked up with Craft-O-Maniac!
