wedding wednesday's: changing your name.

the two (maybe three) main documents in need of changing over after you say "I do":
1) driver's license
2) social security card
and possibly,
3) insurance card

yesterday rollled around and i took the day to catch up on some projects and purchase a few crafty things to work on in my spare time.

a few weeks ago, I stopped in to the social security office to switch over my new information.
Because I was just recently issued a temporary driver's license, they weren't able to process the data without the official hard license.

I had already obtained a certified copy of our marriage license & was ready to roll.

So, I crept into the office about 2:00 yesterday afternoon. Pulled my number out of the ticket machine & had a seat.

After 15 minutes or so, my number was called to "desk number 2, please".

As I sat down in the chair after giving the lady all of my pertinent info, I caught a glimpse of a cute decorated acrylic cup sitting on her desk.. much like the ones that I create in my store.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken...I did a cup EXACTLY like that just last week. And I mean identical.
After a few minutes of pondering on whether or not I should ask where she purchased her cup from, I faced my fear and just asked.

"Excuse me, where did you get your cute cup from?"
She proceeded to tell me, "well.... actually, I got it from... the city in which you live in!" (as she is looking at my driver's license).

BINGO.

"It wasn't perhaps, Embellish Boutique was it?"

Yes! That's it. It was from there!

As I'm giggling to myself, I go on to tell her that I am actually the so-called "owner" of Embellish and actually helped make her exact cup!

She died.

Now, tell me this ain't a small world?

wedding wednesday's: wedding bands

I think we are behind schedule in regards to purchasing our wedding bands.
It's crossed my mind a few times early on, but recently I've been focused on the bigger things that rings have completely slipped my mind.
It was only due to a friends FB status {today} about hers that it even rang a bell. Ummm, hellooo?, you have to FIND and ORDER a wedding band!

First off, Cliff and I hardly ever go into town.
And if we do, it's for me to go to clinicals and for him to go for work purposes.

In other words, it's HARD to make a trip to Savannah just to look at wedding bands.
And now that gas is $3.29 a gallon here, I don't believe that'll be happening any time soon.

Soo, I started browsing online for this one band I fell in love with a while ago.

Problem: I can't find the darn thing anywhere.

This is the little beaut...
it looks more like it fits a round cut rather than square.
Or this one...

I'm honestly not sure that either will fit or look good with my square princess radiant star solitaire!

But, I'm really digging this style!

HELP!

Do any of you have these bands? If so, WHERE did you get them from?

For the mister, he's fairly simple.

Plain.and.silver. were the only recommendations.

Simple enough?
$250

Or this?
$290

I wish we were that simple! Geeeee ♥

Wedding Wednesday's: a closer look at our venue.

Sunday we took a trip over to our venue with our wedding coordinator in order to give her the FULL details on how we are envisioning our wedding. While we were walking around, I snapped a few pictures!
Take a look...

Saturday, I went and picked out groomsmen tuxes!
This is the exact one we choose.

The white shirt underneath is going to be microfiber fabric {which is lighter & cooler} rather than the normal pleated shirt.
Like this..

Paisley Ties:
Cliff: Ivory {matches my dress}
Groomsmen/Ringbearer: Chocolate {matches bridesmaid dresses}
Ushers: Tan

♥ Flower girl dress: I'm really liking this one from David's Bridal

♥ Update on save-the-dates: they came in yesterday! I will address them this weekend and be sending them out ASAP :)

Here's a sneak peak!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

wedding wednesday: 5 month update

First off, let me just say I passed that horrid clinical calculations test.
The second time was a charm!

Now to wedding plans..

♥ Our wedding coordinator meeting this past Monday went well! She is incredibly knowledgeable & crafty in this field and I can't wait to see how our ideas will turn out. Speaking of her, we have another meeting scheduled for this coming up Sunday. We are picking her up and driving over to our venue to show her around & explain the plans we have set thus far. From there, we are venturing over to Mom's house {where all of our wedding junk items are stored} to plunder through and show her what we have purchased & discuss what needs to happen from here.

♥ Catering: I think we may have decided to opt out for hor d'oeuvres and instead go for a sit down meal. Since our theme is rustic charm with southern accents, we are considering chicken or pork of some kind to accentuate.

♥ Tuxedos: It's about that time to start ordering tuxedos for the groomsmen, ushers, ringbearer, and the groom himself.
I'm not sure if you remember this post, but this is the color  tux we are going with.

We will be ordering these the beginning of Feburary.

♥ Save-the-Dates: We are hoping to see these in the mail before Friday :)

♥ Favors: Weekend before last, some of the women and I spent a Sunday afternoon working on these. We still have a few more weekends before they will be complete, however. Let me just say that we have more than 1 "favor"..? hehehee, it's a surprise!

♥ Bridal Showers: I've had a few family members, members of our church, and close friends parents contacting me asking to throw a shower for Cliff and I. We are trying to sort out details, themes, and dates at the moment, but things are about to start getting pretty busy! We are soo thankful for everyone who has offered & are soo blessed to have these special people in our lives :)

Also for all of you newly engaged or soon-to-be wed, Jessica's coupons has posted a link to a free 1 year subscription to Bridal Guide magazine. Only while supplies last, so ya better hurry!

Have a good one!

wedding wednesday's

156 Days to go!
Wow, time is certainly flying by!

  • Catering: We have chosen a local caterer that we know personally. At the moment, we are still tossing around exactly which foods we want to serve, but know for certain it will consist of light appetizers & such.
  • Honeymoon: My FMIL is handling this portion.
  • Bridesmaids dresses: I think I have finally found the perfect dress that fits the theme to a T! We ordered a sample dress and passed it around for the majority of the girls to try on. We will order for the remainder of the girls sometime within the next two weeks!
  • Ceremony musicians: We officially booked that ToDaY! Now, we just have to set up a meeting to discuss which songs we wish to be played.
  • Rehearsal dinner: We've booked the rehearsal dinner location as of last week. At the moment, we are trying to determine whether or not we are going to go with the catering company the venue provides or not.
  • Invitations: Since most of the wedding is DIY, we are definitely going to hand-make the invitations. We've purchased all of the materials needed, now just need to discuss invitation wording and begin putting them together.
  • Wedding insurance..?? Really?? I never even knew this existed. How crazy! ..No, we do not have this.

wedding wednesday's: cake tasting & dress fitting

240 days to go!

There's not much going on in the wedding world around here lately. We've been busy working on guests favors & little what-nots, but that's about it. Our biggest concern at this point is reception catering and the wedding cakes. Last Wednesday we had appointment #2 with a separate cake caterer than previously. The place we went to actually made our engagement party cake and has made several, several cakes for several members of Cliff's family for years now. So, we knew the quality of the cake and how good it tastes already! We were just hunting for the best overall price! If you don't remember, a few months back I went to cake tasting #1 and my total was about $100 over budget.

Cake place #2 was $1 over budget.

I think we will go with the #2 option ;)

As you are currently reading, my Mother and I are on our way to Atlanta for my first dress fitting! Ahh!
It came in a few weeks ago and this is the first day we've had available to make a trip up there.
I truly hope it fits! Wouldn't that be something?!

Here's my checklist for the month of October:

Save-the-dates alreadyyyy?? I was thinking more like 6 months!

How many months before did you send out save-the-dates?

wedding wednesday's: bridal show #2

{1: mission accomplished} After much thought and contemplation regarding wedding photographers, I had my mind set that we needed to book and sign a contract right away. Time was flying by and before we knew it our date would be be booked...and my heart would be broken. According to our The Knot Wedding Budget Tool, we are budgeted at $2,400 total for photography/videography. With that said, we tossed around the videographer idea and decided that it wasn't of utmost importance to have that done professionally when we would only pull it out probably twice in our whole lifetime together. So, we are looking at $2400 total for photography only.

Are ya following me?

Ok, so Sunday we attended the 2nd Bridal Show in our region for the year. Going in with high hopes of finding and booking a photographer! Not only is this one thing to check off the list, but the majority of vendors at the show give great discounts if you book with them right then and there.

{Here is a fun snapshot taken by one of the photography vendors- Fox Fotography}

Soo, upon further contemplation and visiting every photography vendor at the expo... we sat down at a table to discuss our options. Without further ado, we came to the conclusion to go ahead and book the date, get the 25% discount, and pay a couple hundred down.

Our package consists of:
  • up to 11 hours of coverage
  • access to online proofing website within two weeks, as well as a free 8x10 pressed proof catalog of all images for us to keep.
  • 70 edited images on disk, with rights & uploaded onto digital frame
  • $200 credit toward any album or prints
  • 1 11x14, 1 8x10, 2 5x7, 2 4x6 prints of our choice.
  • free bridal portrait session with complimentary edited DVD of all images & rights, as well as 1 8x10, and 2 5x7 prints.
Originally this package was priced at $2600, but since we get the discount because we booked it the day of the expo, we are only paying $2100! I love finding great deals under budget! :)

Here are a few snapshots of her work:

I think we will be overwhelmed with joy & satisfaction with her artistic style ♥

{2: bargains at Micheal's}  After the Bridal Show Sunday, we swung by Michael's and picked up a few things we needed to help us get started on doing some DIY wedding stuff. Here are some of the things I walked out with:
  • Elmer's Foam Board's were buy one [$2.99], get one free= 4 boards, $6

  • 8 Initialized note cards/envelopes [$1]- 2 packs= $2

  • Three clearance frames "sold as is":
{1} White 10x10in, matted to 5x5in [$2]

{2} Black 8x10 wood trimmed frame matted to 5x7in [$1.75]

{3} Brown plastic frame [$1.50]

I'm going to spray-paint the first two frames brown & use them in conjunction with the wedding. I'm thinking either: as a "menu" on the candy table & a sign by the guest book explaining how it works.

{3: to see or not to see?} The Savannah Wedding Planner had a good topic of conversation posted on their blog yesterday. In today's era, "tradition" is being tossed out the window left and right. I would like to keep the "traditional" idea of not seeing each other prior to the wedding. However, due to the lack of time in between the ceremony and cocktail hour, I'm afraid we won't get our pictures done in time, therefore leaving our guests frantically waiting for our arrival to the reception in order to get the party started. According to our venue's policy, the city ordinance requires the music level to be turned down by 11 o'clock. If our ceremony begins at 7, lasts approximately 30 minutes, we take pictures for an hour before returning, that leaves us with only 2.5 hours to enjoy the reception with our guests. In other words, time is limited. Should we see each other prior to the ceremony and take the majority of our pictures then? I don't want to regret not having numerous pictures of the two of us together on this one special day.

This is off of the Savannah Wedding Planner's site, "I say this to all of my couples all the time: I feel that the pictures you two take together are some of the most important aspects of your wedding. I loved my wedding photographer but we have only a few pictures of Tim and I together due too much going on and lack of time. It is one of my biggest regrets at my wedding that we didn't do more or have this moment. (that is a different blog post for a different day!)".

Give me your input!
Ohh decisions, decisions, decisions!
